Time Out For Parents: The Teenage Years

Time Out for Parents courses from Care for the Family provide common-sense, jargon-free information and ideas to help you to engage with your children and boost your relationship. If you have children aged 11 to 19, then Time Out for Parents – The Teenage Years is for you. Over 6 sessions you’ll increase your skills and confidence as a parent and discover practical tools to make your relationship with your teenager even better

The sessions

  • Session 1 – Understanding teenagers
  • Session 2 – Emotional wellbeing
  • Session 3 – Communication
  • Session 4 – Parenting styles and boundaries
  • Session 5 – Big issues
  • Session 6 – Big issues, strong families
Time out for Parents: The Teenage Years is run by our training team, led by Gill Parkinson and Karen Williams, licenced facilitators for Care for the Family.

When

The course runs at various points throughout the year. Our next course starts:

Tuesday October 14th  2025, 6.30pm – 8.30pm There are 6 sessions on consecutive Tuesdays, (there will be no session on half term week). The final session is on 25th November.

Where

We run courses either from our Treasure Seekers Hub on Eastgate Street, or at our site on Westgate Street. Occasionally, we can run this course online. We are also able to run courses at other locations, such as schools, upon request.

Cost

£35 for the first parent. £25 for the second parent.
