The Lighthouse Day Opportunities The Lighthouse is a vibrant day service for adults with learning disabilities. It offers a range of enriching, educational and fun activities that support individuals to grow in independence, confidence and life skills. Whether it’s learning to cook, improving literacy and numeracy, or taking part in community trips, every session is personalised to the goals and interests of the student. The Lighthouse team works closely with each individual to help them achieve their dreams in a supportive and joyful environment. The work is both deeply relational and practical, helping people thrive on their own terms.  
Title of Role The Lighthouse Support Worker -(Bank)
Purpose of Role To enable people to become the best version of themselves by supporting adults with learning disabilities in achieving personal goals through creative, educational and community-based activities. This role provides one-to-one and group support in a vibrant day service.
Main Activities/Tasks
  • Support students with daily learning, social and independence skills to help them achieve goals
  • To work with students on a one to one basis as well as within small groups and community activities to achieve goals
  • To support each student with different tasks, depending on their individual needs, goals and choices, such as learning to clean, maintaining or increasing independence and making their own choices
  • To support students with tasks such as basic arithmetic, grammar and spelling etc.
  • To not only attend, but also participate in community activities and engage students throughout (including supporting on journeys to and from external activities)
  • To adapt effective communication skills with each individual student, depending on their individual needs
  • To document interactions, learning, and enjoyment within the company applications
  • To attend to any health needs that may arise during the working day
  • To attend training and regular professional development
  • To work with the Lighthouse Manager under their leadership
  • To take personal responsibility for understanding and applying safeguarding processes in all relevant situations
  • To work within the policies and procedures of Kingfisher Treasure Seekers
  • To promote Kingfisher Treasure Seekers and its work
  • Any other duties as required
Hours   To cover holidays and as and when needed  £12.25 per hour
