Working with Treasure Seekers

The ideal person for this role will have a passion to see people develop skills and change their lives for the better. You will need strong people skills, and be able to show patience and understanding whilst maintaining good professional boundaries. You’ll be part of a team, so good communication is key. You’ll also need to be self-motivated and confident working independently. Having a flexible and adaptable attitude is crucial, because the needs of those we work with can change quickly. A good level of emotional resilience is definitely an asset, and a non-judgemental approach to mental health, recovery, and relapse. In all of our roles, either an Enhanced or basic DBS check and two references will be required before you can start working for us. That’s just part of making sure everyone stays safe.

Starfish Project 

  Starfish Project is a not-for-profit organisation that cares for women escaping human trafficking and exploitation by providing employment and restoration through jewellery making. The UK arm of the project operates from within Kingfisher Treasure Seekers, focusing on distributing Starfish jewellery, building a sustainable income stream, and offering meaningful volunteer opportunities away from customer-facing roles. This department serves both as a social enterprise and a bridge to wider support services, aligned with Treasure Seekers’ mission to help people become the best version of themselves.
Title of Role Starfish Project Coordinator
Purpose of Role To enable people to become the best version of themselves by coordinating the distribution centre based in Treasure Seekers, distributing jewellery around the UK. Building meaningful volunteering opportunities, whilst generating a reliable income stream.
Main Activities/Tasks
  • To liaise with Starfish teams in the US and China
  • To fulfil and dispatch customer orders via Shopify and the Post Office
  • To manage incoming stock deliveries from China, keeping the store room clean and organised
  • To organise and track inventory
  • To coordinate stock of branding materials and packaging
  • To have responsibility for marketing the partnership within the UK via social media and website 
  • To build, train and coordinate a team of volunteers, allocating tasks to ensure a high standard of service.
  • To work within a clearly defined set of financial targets for the project, to cover costs and generate income.
  • Maintain good professional working relationships with relevant external organisations
  • Connect with other departments within Treasure Seekers to collaborate and share learning, including referring service users to those departments where possible 
  • To attend training and regular professional development
  • To work with the Senior Leadership team
  • To work within the policies and procedures of Kingfisher Treasure Seekers
  • To promote Kingfisher Treasure Seekers and its work
  • Any other duties as required
Hours 5 hours per week. £12.75 per hour. Opportunity for overtime during busy seasons.
